Online Book Club

Are you looking to learn more about climate change and its solutions?

Do you want to engage more with wise women and fellow WCC members?

Are you a book lover who also enjoys a good chat?

The WCC Online Book Club is an easy entry point for new members and a brilliant way to meet and get to know women from around the country who share your concerns about climate change and are looking to make a difference.

We’ve read some fascinating and challenging books across various genres and formats, but all with a goal of expanding our knowledge about climate change and the action we need to take to avert the worst of the predicted damage to our living planet.

On our book list over the last few years, we’ve read fiction by young people and by established and acclaimed authors. We’ve read non-fiction from Pulitzer Prize winners, journalists, esteemed climate scientists and activists. Wonderful anthologies have exposed us to the voices of women, young adults, Australians and people from many different backgrounds and cultures.

We’ve run the gamut from a colourful and hopeful children’s picture book on climate change, to bleak predictions of climate and societal collapse, and we’ve contemplated big ideas on the systemic and intersectional change required to avoid those disastrous outcomes.

In every meeting we hear what each member thought about the book, we to-and-fro on some prepared discussion points and we attempt to tie what we’ve learnt back to the WCC’s Charter for Change.

It's friendly, informative and uplifting.
