Women turning the tide, May 2020

At our 2nd online conversation, we considered the question:
How can women turn the tide of our political culture from polarised discord to collaboration and cooperation to restore climate balance by 2030?

The conversation was moderated by Lyn Stephens (WCC founding member), with Janet Salisbury (WCC Founder), Honey Nelson (a founding member of WCC), and Louise Tarrant, one of the leaders of Australia reMADE (see below).

We explored the vision of the Women’s Climate Congress for women to take the lead to turn our political culture towards nonpartisan collaboration for united action on climate change, and to bring nurture of life and care for the Earth to the centre of every government decision.
We also explained our plan to form a network of women across the country to lead this change, and launch further information to guide local participation. Get on our electoral map by filling in the Join Us form on the home page.

Honey Nelson is a vet, pilot, writer and artist who spent many years in central Australia flying herself to remote communities, where she developed a deep respect and lasting relationships with First Peoples. In recent years she has been working to bring First People Elders and knowledge holders together with settler scientists and other thinkers to share knowledge and develop a new blueprint for custodianship of Country.

Louise Tarrant is the Chair of the Australia reMADE (AR) Secretariat. AR is an independent, vision-based collaboration of community leaders and individuals that aims to name what we want, map solutions, gather community, bridge divides and spread ideas that uplift us all. Through community conversations across the country in 2017 – from the voices of the people, recordings of interviews and written submissions – the AR team developed a vision for the Australia of our collective hopes and dreams.
